Toyota 86

We were a little surprised to see this 86 coming back in so soon. It has been 14 months since this one was detailed with us last.

This car is proof of what a good wash routine can achieve! No double-bucket method, no grit guards, no foaming etc etc.

The owner is following the Final Inspection recommended wash method with only a slight twist – using 4 wash mitts instead of just one. This is due to the owner not having a high pressure washer available to him, so is only using mains water with a hose. The 4 wash mitts allows him to swap to a clean mitt during the process, ensuring that there’s no chance of extra debris being dragged over the paint.

Sadly, the car had been in to the local “stealership” for some work & their finest left their grubbiest, greasiest prints all over the doors and roof… The Full Metal Jacket Paint Protection did its best to hold off the grease and grime (almost 100% gone with just a high pressure rinse), but unfortunately they still managed to scratch the surface beneath. They did a stellar job… 🙁

You can see the FMJ still holding great perky beads that just rolled across the surface. There’s plenty of life left in this paint protection. The car is driven daily in all weather, so it’s not like it gets a chance to hide from the elements.

So, in to clean up a few areas & reapply some FMJ, plus do a few more touches that are best left to the obsessive compulsive among us!
